Happy First Contact Day!

From all of us here at TrekNews.net, we’d like to wish you a happy First Contact Day.

Today, we honor the future flight of Dr. Zefram Cochrane, who in the Star Trek universe, will brake the warp barrier on April 5, 2063. That achievement will prompt the Vulcans to make first contact with the human race.

Just 49 years to go!

Below is a clip from Star Trek: First Contact, where Dr. Cochrane makes the fateful flight.

In a sketch that wasn’t aired on last weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live, comedian Louis C.K. plays a villainous Klingon character, with a taste for posters of shirtless human men.

While the Star Trek parody sketch was dropped from the broadcast, NBC has made it available through Hulu. Check it out below.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably be left wondering; “What the heck is up with those hands?”.

Qapla’! Klingon Warnog Beer Coming Later This Year

Klingon Warnog Beer Coming Later This Year

On Monday, CBS Consumer Products and Federation of Beer announced the introduction of the Klingon Warnog. Brewed by Tin Man Brewing Company of Evansville, Indiana, the Star Trek-themed beer blends rye malt with a traditional clove character.

Warnog’s aroma is predominantly mild banana and clove produced by the German wheat yeast, supported by subtle sweet malt character from the use of Munich malt. The flavor draws heavily from the blending of the rye malt and traditional clove character, creating a very rich and unique flavor. The inclusion of wheat and caramel malts help to round out the mouthfeel of this beer, making this Dunkelweizen hearty enough to be called a Klingon Warnog.

The beer is set to be previewed at the Las Vegas Nightclub & Bar Show later this month and will be rolled out to distributors in the US and Canada later this year.
