100th Guest Announced For Las Vegas Star Trek Convention

On Thursday, Creation Entertainment announced “The City On the Edge of Forever” scribe Harlan Ellison as their 100th guest for this year’s Las Vegas Star Trek Convention. The rare appearance will mark his first appearance at a Creation event in twenty years.

Ellison joins a loaded lineup that also includes William Shatner, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula, Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, LeVar Burton, Gates McFadden, Colm Meaney, Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols, Peter Weller, Chase Masterson, John de Lancie, Nana Visitor, Rene Auberjonis, Suzie Plakston, Tim Russ, Anthony Montgomery, Max Grodenchik, Aron Eisenberg, John Billingsly, Tony Todd, Robert O’Reilly, JG Hertzler, Robert Duncan McNeill, David Warner, Ethan Phillips, Cirroc Lofton, Denise Crosby, Catherine Hicks, Paul Lynch, Don Stark, Sally Kellerman, Ronald B. According to Creation, Ellison will tentatively appear on three panels during the convention: one solo, one with Walter Koenig, and one with Grace Lee Whitney. He will also be giving his autograph to fans for free in the vendors room.

Harlan is one of America’s greatest writers and his published works include over 2,000 short stories, novellas, screenplays, comic book scripts, teleplays, essays, and criticism covering literature, film, television and print media. He is listed in the Encyclopedia Britannica and has been named the Science Fiction Grand Master Laureate. Harlan was also the editor and anthologist for two ground-breaking anthologies Dangerous Visions and Again, Dangerous Visions in 1967 and 1972. He has won 8 ½ Hugo Awards and 5 Nebula Awards. Ellison’s screenplay for the classic Star Trek episode “The City on the Edge of Forever” won both Writers Guild and Hugo Awards and is often cited as the best of the series’ 79 episodes.

Ellsion will be on-hand all four days of the convention, which takes place July 31 – August 3 at the Rio Hotel and Casino.
