Star Trek VI Expanded Soundtrack

More information from Intrada:

Blast for Star Trek music fans! World premiere 2-CD release of complete soundtrack for sixth feature film in wildly popular Paramount Pictures franchise, directed by Nicholas Meyer, starring William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley and Oscar-winner Christopher Plummer. Cliff Eidelman scores for first time in series not with customary fanfare-march approach but with incredibly dark, powerful material, mirroring serious tone of film. Ideas often play in cellos, basses, low brass. Eidelman also displays gift for powerhouse percussion writing. In spotlight as well are aggressive, tour-de-force action cues requiring high degree of player technique, especially from horns, trumpets. Arguably the most challenging Trek score to perform! Emphasis on darker sonorities notwithstanding, score does allow for bright, energetic theme where appropriate, especially in dynamite finish with cast “Sign Off” and “End Credits” music. Intrada release, courtesy Universal Music & Paramount Pictures and part of Paramount restoration series of each Trek score, also offers alternates plus both dynamic trailer scores, to date the only original trailer scores recorded for a Star Trek film. Take 10 version with arresting high trumpet triplets is particularly memorable! CD 2 presents original 1991 album with composer’s unique musical assembly. Complete score mastered from Mitsubishi digital 2-track stereo session masters recorded at 20th Century Fox, trailers mixed from 2″ 24-track analog masters recorded at Sony Pictures. Lukas Kendall produces, supervises entire project with composer, Neil Bulk edits, Mike Matessino mixes, masters, Jeff Bond scribes authoritative notes. Cliff Eidelman conducts.

Update on Larry Nemecek’s “Con of Wrath” Documentary + Special Donor Upgrade Offer

Update on Larry Nemecek's "Con of Wrath"

Today, we have a special update from Star Trek author, historian and The Con of Wrath documentarian, Larry Nemecek.

Larry sent over the following update regarding the upcoming release along with a special donor upgrade offer, which ends Monday night.

In the spirit of Oscars weekend, today marks the last day of our “donor upgrade special” for THE CON OF WRATH documentary’s “crowdfunding” program—through midnight tonight — where you get a bump up in thank-you goodies to the next stated level. Everyone still gets a screen credit, too.

It’s all part of our first phase of filming for “The Con of Wrath”—using a lot of can-do, hands-on donations from fans in return for screen credit and customary fan thank-you gifts — on eight levels ranging from just $10 and $25 on up, using the PayPal Donation system.

And this “special” expiring tonight helps jump-start our spring filming sessions for the documentary, with a reward “upgrade” for fans who can help with a donation from $10 to $500 in Phase I of filming.

If you have not heard of THE CON OF WRATH—either the original 1982 Ultimate Fantasy “meltdown to miracle” landmark Trek debacle in Houston, or our documentary about it now filming after a few sessions in L.A., Seattle and of course Houston—you can check out conofwrath.com, which sports a sneak-peek chat with Harve Bennett and Walter Koenig.

The leaked photos featured Saldana as Uhura as well as her Star Trek co-star Zachary Quinto as Spock as they battled the films villain, Benedict Cumberbatch on what’s being described as a “space barge.”

WATCH: William Shatner Talks Broadway on ‘The View’

On Monday, Star Trek‘s original Captain Kirk, William Shatner appeared on ABC’s morning talk show, The View.

During his appearance, Shatner discussed his return to Broadway after 50 years with his new show, Shatner’s World, with the show’s hosts Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Whoopi Goldberg.

He discussed making some adjustments to the show, since it’s debut in Australia and last year’s Canadian tour. When the opportunity presented itself to bring the show to Broadway, Shatner said he had to bring it to a “higher standard.”

Shatner said his biggest fear was the possibility of the show failing and people walking out while he was on stage.

He said when the show opened he received “great notices” and after all the worry, he began thinking about “women and food — the important things.”

“They can expect to be entertained of course.” Shatner said, discussing what fans can expect from the show.

William Shatner Praises Chris Pine as Captain Kirk

William Shatner Praises Chris Pine as Captain Kirk

Last weekend, William Shatner appeared at the Wizard World convention in New Orleans.

During a Q&A session with the crowd, Shatner was asked if he ever hated Captain Kirk. “Last night we were having dinner (on Bourbon Street), and the waiter comes up and says, ‘What would you like?’ I said ‘Oysters.’ And he said, ‘Beam me up, Scotty!’ I mean, come on. On the other hand, I would not have been here ordering those oysters if it hadn’t been for Captain Kirk. It’s a two-edged sword. Imagine getting to do the things I’ve done as a result of playing the part of Captain Kirk.”

Shatner went on to discuss Chris Pine as Star Trek‘s new Captain Kirk. “He’s a lovely young man, who is really talented and looks really good,” Shatner said. “He’s got the demeanor, the body and the voice. So along with being a good actor, he’s got all the right equipment.”
