La-La Land Records, Sony Music and Paramount Pictures have prepared quite a treat for Star Trek fans as they reissue a deluxe 3-CD set of 1979‘s Star Trek: The Motion Picture, composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith. To restore and remix the score, Goldsmith’s original scoring engineer Bruce Botnick has used the old analogue 16-track 2-inch sound rolls. Europe’s largest sci-fi convention, FedCon kicked off earlier today in Düsseldorf, Germany. This year’s guest list includes Star Trek‘s William Shatner, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, J.G. Hertzler, Robert O’Reily, Garrett Wang and Walter Koenig, who appeared at the very first FedCon in 1992. Major Lineup Change for Creation’s Nashville Star Trek Convention
Creation Entertainment has announced that due to a filming commitment, Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Patrick Stewart has been pulled from their Official Star Trek Convention in Nashville next month. As a replacement, it has been confirmed that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine‘s Avery Brooks will now headline the event. Leonard Nimoy to Introduce Star Trek II as Part of LA Film Festival
As part of this year’s Los Angeles Film Festival, Star Trek‘s original Spock, Leonard Nimoy will introduce Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary. On Tuesday May 8th, principal photography for the Star Trek sequel was completed in Northern California. This concludes a four month shoot, which began back on January 12th of this year. Coincidentally, J.J. Abrams’ 2009 Star Trek film was released exactly three years ago on the same date.
